Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a minimally invasive weight loss procedure that uses an endoscope to create a sleeve-like shape in the stomach, reducing its overall size and volume.

During the procedure, the surgeon inserts a flexible tube with a camera and an endoscopic suturing device through the patient’s mouth and down into the stomach. Using the suturing device, the surgeon then creates a series of small sutures in the stomach tissue, effectively creating a sleeve-like shape.

The ESG procedure is performed without making any incisions or removing any part of the stomach, making it a less invasive alternative to traditional bariatric surgeries like gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. The procedure typically takes about an hour to complete, and patients can usually go home the same day.
